Animal Husbandry

Animal Husbandry supports the scientists at the LIR in their research on resilience mechanisms when ethical reasons make human research impossible. The welfare of the animals is ensured through close cooperation with the animal caretakers of the TARC (Translational Animal Research Center) of the Mainz University Medical Center. Mice and rats are used at the LIR. Our aim is to provide the animals with optimal housing conditions in cooperation with the TARC and TARCforce3R.

As part of our tasks, we want to summarize facts about animal experiments and make the background transparent. To this end, we are a member of the Initiative Tierversuche verstehen.
